I am a painter who primarily works in oil, creating representational, realistic landscapes inspired by photographs taken during my extensive travels around the world. Each piece begins with a memory—a place I’ve experienced—and evolves into a composition that reflects the natural beauty I’ve encountered. I’m especially drawn to the interplay of light and shadow across landscapes, which adds depth and emotion to my work.
In contrast, my abstract pieces are more intuitive and expressive. Though they begin with organic forms found in nature, the compositions take on a life of their own. Color, shape, and movement guide the process, creating a visual rhythm that evokes tension, energy, and harmony. I find particular joy in working with pastels for these pieces, appreciating their immediacy and vibrant texture.
Sculpture is another passion of mine, especially my series of figurative clay works celebrating the beauty and strength of women. Working from live models in a local studio, I strive to capture both form and spirit. Having a kiln in my studio gives me the freedom to explore this medium fully and fire my own pieces.
Retirement has given me the gift of time—to reflect, to explore, and to immerse myself in the creative process. Making art now is not just a practice, but a joy.
